The United States of America is the home of John Rambo. First Blood takes place in the United States in Washington State. Rambo is originally from Arizona.
Despite United States being plural, the country is so firmly united that most people refer to it as "the" United States, rather than "these".
First Blood
The entire film of First Blood took place in the United States, Washington State to be exact. This is unique for the series. The rest takes place in Southeast Asia. First Blood took place in the fictional community of Hope, Washington and the forests around it, despite being filmed in British Columbia, Canada.
Rambo First Blood Part II
At the beginning of the film, John Rambo is being held in prison becuase of his actions in the previous film. While he is there his friend and former commander Colonel Sam Trautman approaches him with a chance to get released from prison to do a covert mission in Vietnam to search for POWs still being held there.
Rambo III
The entire film of Rambo III took place in Asia, a first for the series, but it did mention that America was about a three year walk away from Afghanistan.
Rambo IV
In Rambo IV, John Rambo briefly returns to the United States, his hometown of Bowie, Arizona, which is shown on screen for the first time.
